I have worked in trades my whole life. I have been into factories and mines all over the province. I would like to share these experiences with you. You never really understand where everything you use in your day to day lives comes from. I hope this can give you some Insite to where stuff is made.
First ill start with my carpentry work. Framing houses is something that I have done for my whole life. In the summer when I am at my cottage, I help a few framers out. I have helped frame up and finish a few cottages all around the norther Muskoka area. You can see in the video below a small snip of what your house looked like underneath paint and dry wall.
I know everyone has seen semi-trucks going down the road, I worked at mill road trailers as a millwright. Every trailer you see going down the road has come from a plant like this. All the trailers just start as a big rolls of steel and aluminum.
These plants are massive, you cannot fully comprehend how big these plants are. They have trains in the plants so the workers can get around. We were retrofitting high voltage breakers into the older buildings in the plant. I was a millwright; I built the boxes that the high voltage wires were in. I was on site to also install these.
These are the metal boxes i would build then install on site. These boxes were all tig welded so they were fully airtight. I was in a OYAP program out of high school, so I was a full certified welder 2 years after high school.
I’m always looking to learn new things. Follow along to see what I am learning or building.
